Ryan Burdick’s singles conquest, plus a fine doubles duel, highlighted the work of the Hamilton and Morrisville-Eaton boys tennis teams during last Tuesday’s Section III Class C-2 Tournament at SUNY-Cortland. Overall, the Emerald Knights finished second in the team standings with 47 points, trailing only Alexandria Bay, who won with 54 points. M-E was fifth with 19 points. Burdick gave Hamilton a victory in third singles. He worked his way to the championship game, then fought past Alex Bay’s Travis Martin in a 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) decision. Meanwhile, in second doubles, the final pitted M-E’s duo of Henry Batallie and Tyler Baker against Hamilton’s team of Andrew Powrie and Dave Schott. In straight sets, Batallie and Baker would win 6-1, 6-4.
