During Wednesday’s CNY Counties League National division championship meet at Bragman Stadium, the Cicero-North Syracuse girls track and field team sought to avenge its lost to Liverpool seven days earlier that ended the Northstars’ 44-meet win streak. CNS fared quite well, too, picking up 153 points, but the Warriors still beat the Northstars by earning 162 points. Utica Proctor finished third with 112 points. In her 100-meter hurdles duel with Proctor’s Kierra Arthur, Jasmine Thompson won, in 15.56 seconds, with Arthur (15.75 seconds) in second place. In the triple jump, Thompson went 36 feet 1/2 inch to win as teammate Alana Hotchkiss (34 feet 7 inches) took second place. Thompson also cleared 5 feet 1 inch in the high jump, second to Proctor’s Shykiera Heyward, who cleared 5 feet 2 inches. She had a fourth in the long jump (15 feet 10 3/4 inches) after three foul attempts, with Hotchkiss in fifth place. Going 1-2 in the 3,000-meter run, CNS had Taylor Wendler prevail in a time of 10:24.27, while Nicole Watterud took second place in 10:50.82. CNS managed to take third in the 4×100 (52.90 seconds) and fourth in the 4×400 in 4:26.06. Dominating the 2,000-meter steeplechase, the Northstars had Lindsay Raulli blaze to a winning time of 7:17.22 as Colburn finished third (7:52.87) and Christina Sakowski got fourth place in 7:58.63. The Northstars also prevailed in the 4×800 relay as Nicole Campagna, Katie Laris, Schuyler Cary and Nicole Gilettte won in 9:58.09, more than four seconds ahead of Baldwinsville. On her own, Campagna ran to fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:25.53. Watterud also finished second in the 1,500 (4:53.90), with eighth-grader Marissa Colburn sixth in 4:58.05. Jessica Wheeler picked up 2,076 points for second place in the pentathlon as Baldwinsville’s Laura Farleman (2,393 points) prevailed. Chelsea Davidson was fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.35 Gina Campagna (8 feet) and Sarah Dean were third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault behind the Liverpool duo of Erika Salem and Chelsea Attaway. Casey Wilmer threw the shot put 31 feet 2 1/4 inches for fifth place, adding a sixth in the discus as Valerie Langevin (94 feet 7 inches) finished fourth.
