Closing its regular-season slate in a strong way, the Cazenovia boys track and field team swept through Wednesday’s meet with Marcellus and Christian Brothers Academy, beating the Mustangs 75-66 and routing the Brothers 115-26. Three different Lakers earned two individual titles, including Joe Bono, who threw the discus 136 feet 8 inches and won the shot put with a toss of 40 feet 2 inches. Eric Ginowski worked his way to first in the 200-meter dash (25.2 seconds) and also won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.2. Also, Eric Goldman had a top long jump of 19 feet 4 1/2 inches before claiming the triple jump with 39 feet 3 inches. Nico Schmidt, who earned victory in the 100-meter dash (12.1 seconds), also teamed with Tim Wheeler, Alex Petroff and Zach Bender to take the 4×100 relay in 49.0 seconds. In the girls meet, Cazenovia ripped past Marcellus 106-35, but could not keep up with CBA, whose 83-58 win gave them the outright OHSL Liberty division regular-season title. Still, Paige Biviano emerged with three individual titles. She won the 100-meter high hurdles in 16.6 seconds, cleared 4 feet 10 inches in the high jump and won the long jump by going 17 feet 3 inches, two inches ahead of CBA’s Betty Etheredge. Biviano also was third in the triple jump. Cazenovia, in fact, cleaned up in field events. Piper Gianforte cleared 9 feet in the pole vault. Grace Eberle prevailed in the discus (75 feet 6 inches) as Molly Woodworth threw the shot put 26 feet 2 inches to earn first place in that event. Hollie Marcelle won a thrilling 1,500-meter run, kicking past CBA’s Carol Giblin to win in 5:07.1, six-tenths of a second ahead of Giblin. She also teamed with Meaghan Liddell, Meghan Karmis and Kaja Tollersrud to win the 4×400 relay (4:40.2) as Gianforte, Woodworth, Audrey Bowers and Meghan Morrow ran the 4×100 in 53.7 seconds. Both Cazenovia teams go to Marcellus next Tuesday for the OHSL Liberty meet.
