What was supposed to happen was that the Christian Brothers Academy boys lacrosse team would use its April 30 overtime win over Cazenovia as a launching point toward a strong second half of the regular season. Instead, the Brothers lost its next two games, falling to Westhill May 2 and then, last Tuesday night, running into Homer and taking a 15-11 defeat to the Trojans. A quiet Section III Class C contender from the start, Homer never trailed, and made its big move in the second quarter, tearing up CBA’s defense and sprinting to an 8-1 advantage. Somehow, the Brothers hung in there. David Biegler led a second-half surge, scoring four times, while Matt Dugan and Tom Trasolini each had two goals. Jared DePalma, Casey Lasda and Ty Murphy also scored, with DePalma adding two assists. Still, Homer hung on, overcoming Nate Wadsworth’s 16 saves. Carl Zimmerman hurt the Brothers’ defense with six goals and two assists as teammate Aaron Darr added four goals and one assist. CBA ended the skid Thursday at Manlius-Pebble Hill, topping the Trojans 15-3 as it got all of its goals in the first three periods. Biegler and Doug Bailey each had three-goal hat tricks, while Will Roberson earned two goals and three assists. Frechette had a goal and three assists as Joe Ehle got two goals. Trasolini, Lasda, John Buckel and Ciro Nicoletti-Watson put up one goal apiece.
