Making it 172 consecutive wins in a streak dating back 12 years, the Fayetteville-Manlius boys tennis team turned back Liverpool last Monday afternoon, beating the Warriors 6-1. Liverpool came in with a 5-1 record, and even snatched a point in doubles when Ian Swenson and Michael Pare beat Daniel Jee and Michael Kaplan 7-5, 6-4. Eric Rosenthal took a serious challenge in singles and was two points from efeat, yet rallied past Joe Corcoran 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. By contrast, Matt Izant beat Mike Schneider 6-2, 6-3 and Nick Westergaard beat Brennan Kirsche 6-1, 6-1. In a doubles showdown, Vivek and Vikram Nayar survived a second-set tie-breaker, beating Ryan DeAngelis and Dan Salem 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Mark Hamidi and Alex Martin got past Luke Donigan and Brandon Fernandes 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) as Dan and Jimmy Miron got a 6-3, 6-0 sweep of Ryan Tibbetts and Victor Beaumont.
