Liverpool’s girls golf team had an impressive start to last week’s action, going to Camillus last Monday and hammering West Genesee 206-254. Over nine holes at Westvale, Alyscia Abold shot a 41, while teammate Laura Nicolais put up a 47, both of them well clear of any Wildcat player. The Warriors would not have similar success in Wednesday’s match against defending Section III champion Fayetteville-Manlius, falling to the Hornets 156-181. Coming off its first defeat since 2007 (to Auburn on April 27), F-M had Alex Seabury shot a 34 and Sara Simons add a 39. Nicolais shot a 42 for the Warriors as Abold added a 43. Mary Kate Martens and Kim Hafner each shot equal round of 48. But the Warriors would hold off Oswego 220-223 on Thursday afternoon, the difference being that Abold shot 46 at Oswego Country Club, seven shots better than Jessica Lalande, the Buccaneers’ best player. Going to Hickory Hills on Friday, Liverpool beat Baldwinsville 175-178. With every shot important, Abold put together a 36, four shots ahead of the Bees’ Jamie Schmidt. Mary Kate Martens added a 44. Cicero-North Syracuse started with a 153-201 loss to Baldwinsville. Kathleen Fandrich led with a 46, well back of B’ville’s Jamie Schmidt, who shot a 34.
