With each win, the Fayetteville-Manlius boys tennis continues to build its ever-lengthening unbeaten streak. It got to 166 last Tuesday when the Hornets blew past Utica Proctor 7-0. Between them, Matt Izant and Nick Westergaard lost just one game in singles, while Alex Martin posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dan Gianndrea. The doubles teams of Vikram Nayar-Vivek Nayar, Daniel Jee-Mike Kaplan, Sinan Isik-Mark Hamidi and Danny Miron-Jimmy Miron pulled off the rare feat of winning four matches without a single game being lost. Not even that kind of effort could be repeated against Central Square on Wednesday, but the Hornets’ latest 7-0 sweep meant a 167th consecutive win. Still, Jee and Jonathan Kahn handled Jake Ecker and Ryan Nash 6-1, 6-2, as part of an easy doubles sweep, with the Nayars beating Mike Allen and Josh Horn 6-0, 6-0. In singles, Westergaard blanked Brandon Payne 6-0, 6-0, while Martin got past William Gilbraith 6-1, 6-1 and Izant handled Justin Parow 6-0, 6-2. F-M then turned to Friday’s match with Cicero-North Syracuse and issued another 7-0 win to move the win streak to 168. For the second day in a row, Westergard earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, this one over Mark Fallinski, as Izant and Matt Rosenthal also prevailed in singles. In doubles, Sinan Isik and Florian Broghammer beat Andrew Yankay and Dan Greco 6-1, 7-5.
