Each of Cicero-North Syracuse’s track and field teams picked up lots of points during last Wednesday’s meets against Henninger. In the girls meet at Bragman Stadium, the Northstars won, 113-19, over the Black Knights and extended its league win streak to 42 meets. Jasmine Thompson earned four wins on her own, from the long jump (15 feet 5 inches) to the triple jump (33 feet 7 inches) to a pair of sprints. Thompson won the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.3 seconds and covered 200 meters in 28.5 seconds. Nicole Campagna sped through the 400-meter dash in 1:04.3 and also won the 400 hurdles in 1:114.6 before teaming with Chelsea Davidson, Brooke Binion and Katie Laris to win the 4×400 relay in 4:30.2. Christina Sakowski, Sarah Lounsbury, Schuyler Cary and Nicole Gillette worked together in the 4×800 relay (11:05.2). Sakowski also won at 800 meters (2:36) as Lindsay Raulli worked through 3,000 meters in 11:23.1 and Taylor Wendler took the 1,500-meter run in 5:34. Katie Osborne needed 17.4 seconds to finish first in the 100-meter high hurdles, jut as Gina Campagna cleared 4 feet 8 inches in the high jump and Valerie Langevin threw the discus 102 feet 8 inches. Sarah Dean, Jess Wheeler, Stacie DeCarr and Strange Mayweather ran the 4×100 relay in a top time of 55.6 seconds. Down at Sunnycrest Field, the CNS boys team rolled past Henninger 109-23, with Chris Buchanan and Jordan Thompson taking starring roles. Buchanan ran the mile in 5:07.7, then won the 3,200-meter run in 10:20.8 as Jared Walther (2:05.1) beat the field in the 800. Meanwhile, Thompson won the discus (107 feet 10 inches) and threw the shot put 48 feet 6 inches for a second title. Elsewhere in field events, Devin Mertens won the high jump, clearing 5 feet 8 inches, as Eric Munoz got a top triple jump of 40 feet. On the oval, Shaun Hyde took the 110 high hurdles (17.7 seconds) and Ben Brown ran to first in the 200-meter dash (24.5 seconds), while Alex Neumeister took the 400 hurdles (1:01.7) and Tony Rogers won the 400-meter dash in 54.5 seconds. Brown, Hyde, Jake Whritenour and Brandon Marlow won the 4×400 relay (3:34.8) after Matt Perkins, Wes Kufel, Ryan Thomas and Jason Tuori needed 9:22.0 to prevail in the 4×800 relay. CNS would continue to win on both sides in Saturday’s meets, including a first-place finish at the boys John Arcaro Memorial Relays at Baldwinsville. The Northstars picked up 119 points, well clear of the host Bees, who were second with 84 points. In the 4×200 relay, CNS won in a time of 1:32.9, two full seconds better than Fulton, with Whritenour, Perkins, Kufel and Tuori combining to take the 4×800 in 8:45.2. Hyde and Neumeister worked together to win the 400 hurdles (combined time of 2:02.1), with CNS also winning the pole vault as Eric Sykora and Dillon McKee combined to clear 23 feet 6 inches. The Northstars were second in the triple jump, long jump (Munoz was in both events), 4×100, sprint medley, 4×400 and individual sprint medley, amounting to 48 more points. It also got third in the distance medley, 4×1,600, discus, high jump and shot put. As for the CNS girls team, it flourished at the Warrior-Hawk Invitational at Central Square with a series of wins. Thompson edged past Utica Proctor’s Shykierra Heyward in the 100 hurdles, though both finished in 15.5 seconds, and Thompson added a second in the triple jump. Wendler won the 3,000 as the only girl to break the 11-minute mark (10:48.1, to be exact) as Raulli dominated the 2,000-meter steeplechase, winning in 7:23.9 as Marissa Colburn (7:56.7) took third. In the sprint medley relay, CNS won in a time of 4:30.5, 2.2 seconds ahead of Liverpool, as Langevin got third in both the shot put and discus, with Casey Wilmer fourth in the discus. Gina Campagna cleared 5 feet for second place in the high jump.
