On its second try, the Fayetteville-Manlius baseball team gave new head coach Steve Musso his first win in a Hornets uniform. F-M held on at home Tuesday afternoon for a 4-3 victory over Rome Free Academy, who was playing its second game of the day (it had beaten Cicero-North Syracuse 1-0 earlier). Musso only took over at the start of team practices in March after the resignation of coach Bob Piraino. He handled the sudden transition well, even though F-M dropped its April 11 opener to Utica Proctor. Again RFA, the Hornets fell behind 1-0, only to go in front for good with two-run rallies in the second and fifth innings off pitchers Ryan Cooke and Andy D’Amore. Chris Quinn tripled and drove in a run, while Ethan Braddock, JeremyMapstone and Pat McClure put up one RBI apiece. On the mound, Joe Sinopoli pitched most of the way, but RFA’s two-run sixth inning cut the margin to one, forcing Scott Miller to come in and pick up the save.
