Prepare for Baldwinsville’s third annual Carp Tournament with a series of three public, pre-tournament carp angling clinics offered at Lions Community Park. During these clinics, the public will have the opportunity to fish the same waters that saw a French professional carp team catch and release a new world record in quantity of fish caught during a competition. This international team would later go on to win the 2007 American Carp Societies’ North-East Regional Baldwinsville Carp Tournament. Offered by McGrath & Associates Carp Angling Services, Marukyu Baits, PKI Agency, the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Agency (GBEDA) and The Red Mill Inn, the clinics will cover the following topics: History of the carp in Central New York (American Carp);
Locating and understanding carp;
Selection and description of proper carp angling equipment; and
International tackle-craft, bait-making and fish-care.
Clinics will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, April 11, 18 and 25 at the park, located off Route 48 about a half-mile south of the four corners. Some tackle will be available, but clinic participants are advised to bring their own tackle (medium to heavy gauge). Complementary bait, coffee and pastries will be available at the start of each clinic. Enrollment information for this year’s North-East Regional Baldwinsville Carp Tournament will also be available during all clinics.
