Many Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA boys swimmers descended upon Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island for last weekend’s state swimming and diving championships. Tyghe Speidel had the Red Rams’ best individual effort, swimming to seventh place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.44 seconds, earning him All-American consideration. Ryan Kelley (Fayetteville-Manlius) took 12th place in 1:01.26, with Christian Larrabee (East Syracuse-Minoa) 19th in 1:02.06. Elsewhere, Speidel was 16th in the 200 individual medley in 1:58.92. He also teamed with Garrett Farchione, Russ Farchione and Allan Runions to finish 18th in the 200 medley relay in 1:41.90. J-D/CBA fared better in the 200 freestyle relay, where Runions, Scott Thieke, Russ Farchione and Eric Jorgensen finished 14th in 1:30.54. Speidel, Jorgensen, Thieke and Eric Smith got 15th in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:18.48. Jorgensen, on his own, swam to 35th in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.47 and 42nd in the 500 freestyle, with Scott Thieke 38th in the 50 freestyle in 22.45 seconds.
