At 7:19 p.m. tonight, Thursday Feb. 19, Deputy Mayor of the village of Camillus Kurt Brunger was unanimously appointed mayor by the village board during a special meeting. Brunger, whose term as trustee would have ended March 31, replaces Tom Grant as mayor. Grant’s resignation, two years into his term, became official yesterday. Brunger opted not to appoint someone to fill his vacant trustee post.
“I’m giving it further consideration,” Brunger said. After several months of a more active than usual role as deputy mayor, Brunger said he was comfortable and excited to take on the mayoral post. Brunger’s wife, Anne, and three sons, Matthew, 6, Drew, 2, and Nicholas, 8 months, attended the meeting to see him take office.
