Once up against its foes in the CNY Counties League American division, the Fayetteville-Manlius girls indoor track and field team raced to the top spot last Tuesday night at Manley Field House. The Hornets had 127 points, well clear of Corcoran, who was second with 97 points. Rome Free Academy (89 points) took third place. Courtney Chapman broke three minutes and won the 1,000-meter run, hitting the line in 2:59.02 ahead of teammate Hannah Luber, who was second in 3:05.16. Later in the meet, Chapman and Luber dominated the 1,500-meter event, as Chapman tore through it in 4:49.84 and Luber, in 5:02.59, again had second place. In another 1-2 effort, Jessica Marini won the 600-meter run in 1:44.74 and Natalie Alibrandi, in 1:45.90, earned the runner-up spot. Gennie Ariotti earned the title in the 3,000-meter run with her clocking of 11:04.26. As if that wasn’t enough, Luber, Chapman, Marini and Ariotti worked through the 4×800 relay in 9:43.06. In the 4×400 relay, Marini, Natalie Alibrandi, Molly Levy and Alyssa Hamel earned second place in 4:22.35, with Levy and Hamel combining with Kelly Perry and Isabel Carapella for third in the 4×200 relay in 1:58.89. Alex Seabury emerged to win the long jump, going 16 feet 3 1/2 inches as Perry took fifth place. Seabury was also was fifth in the 300-meter dash (45.64 seconds), just ahead of Alibrandi, and sixth in the 55-meter dash in 8.07 seconds. Perry added a second in the triple jump, going 31 feet 6 inches. Amanda Saunders (10.12 seconds) and Isabel Carapella (10.21 seconds) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles. Jhoville Pommells got fourth in the shot put with a toss of 26 feet 8 1/2 inches. Amanda Saunders was second in the pole vault, clearing 6 feet 6 inches. F-M’s boys team earned 87 points in its version of the CNYCL American meet on Tuesday, tying Corcoran for second place. Rome Free Academy beat them both with 94 points. Alex Hatz, not taking any rest during the winter break, tore through the 1,000-meter run in 2:28.20 as Brendan Farrell (2:43.20) finished second. Hatz came right back and, in the 600-meter run, won that race in 1:26.22 by more than three seconds over the field, including Jon Cico in fourth place. And in the mile, Hatz laid back, taking second (4:38.79) as Farrell ran to the front and won that race in 4:32.82. Andrew Roache and Cico went 1-2 in the 3,200-meter run, as Roache won in 9:53.65 and Cico (10:10.57) claimed the runner-up spot. Ben Thomas, Owen Strong, Andrew Veilleux and Joe Hartnett earned first place in the 4×800 relay with a time of 9:08.57. Langston Lightcap, Gottsch Kramer, Miles Lawlor and Joe Hartnett earned second in the 4×400 relay in 3:47.18.
