Quickly recovering from a loss to Mexico two nights earlier, the Solvay wrestling team came home and won an OHSL Liberty division meet over Marcellus by a score of 39-25. Three different times, Solvay won matches by a single point. Aaron Benedict, in a 130-pound showdown with Marcellus star Pat Cost, pulled out a 4-3 decision, and Tyler Avery (135 pounds) had the same kind of battle at 135 pounds against Matt Marcheterre, prevailing 2-1. In yet another close battle, Tom Bradley (215 pounds) held off Ross Bolewski 5-4. Mitch Anthony moved up to 140 pounds and pinned Brian Barrett in 1:31. Anderson earned his pin over Grant Hardy 37 seconds into the second period. J.T.Romagnoli (103 pounds) and Mike Warne (152 pounds) both claimed forfeits as Matt Berkery (112 pounds) pinned Garrett Crysler with 49 seconds left. Jordan-Elbridge lost a non-league meet to Mount Markham 54-24, despite an early lead. After Colin Ennulat (103 pounds) claimed a forfeit, Mike Nguyen (112 pounds) pinned Lance Angle in 3:30 and Preston Bishop (112 pounds) took 1:30 to pin Austin Weeks. The Mustangs answered by winning the next six matches to put the meet away, only stopping at the end when J-E’s Abe Patrick (160 pounds) pinned Derek Wagner in 1:49.
