Staying in the race to host a post-season game, the Baldwinsville ice hockey team went to the Twin Rinks Friday night to face Cicero-North Syracuse and, in a close affair, edged past the Northstars 2-1. CNS struck first, as Brian Hamilton scored off a feed from Billy Temple. From there, though, the Northstars didn’t score again, as Nick Leader again proved tough in the net, recording 21 saves. B’ville picked up its pressure as the game went along, nearly doubling CNS’s shot total with 41. Joe Feldman turned everything away until the second period, when Connor Bertrand, off a feed from Adam Mohr, put home the tying goal. It remained 1-1 for a while, but with 9:12 left in regulation, Mohr broke the tie by flicking a shot past Feldman. Mark Belucci joined Patrick Briggs and Chris Newman in the assist column. At 7-2 in league play (13-4-1 overall), B’ville is home Thursday night to take on Oswego, its only action this week.
