Jordan-Elbridge’s track and field teams hosted its own invitational meet on Saturday, and found success on both the male and female sides before it was done. Andrew Conlan had a great afternoon for the boys Eagles. He won the 200-meter dash in 24.38 seconds, beating the field by more than a second (a big margin in a sprint) and was second in the 100-meter dash (11.94 seconds) to Oswego’s Cory Keefe (11.88 seconds) Conlan also helped Carlan Coomey, Andrew Forward and Nick Byrnes take third in the 4×100 in 48.04 seconds. Cody Stanton (10:26.93) and Jack Gugel were second and fourth, respectively, in the 3,200-meter run, while Greg Bader claimed second in the 800 in 2:08.09 and Coomey took third (55.19 seconds) in the 400. Mike Marrero got third in the mile in 4:52.67. Paul Nelson was fourth in the long jump, with Forward fourth in the triple jump. Kalys Uulu was fifth in the pole vault and Connor Mills sixth in the discus. In the girls meet, Rachel Scott was victorious in the 400 hurdles, her time of 1:14.06 topping Phoenix’s Marisa Turner by nearly two seconds. Scott added a fifth in the 400. Rachel Hare, Molly Hourigan, Julia Conlan and Allie Donahue were fourth in the 4×800 in 11:27.59, with Rachel Betts fifth in the 100-meter dash. Hourigan, on her own, took fourth in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 8 inches. While all this was going on, West Genesee’s boys track team was earning 43 points and taking fourth place at the John Arcaro Memorial Relays at Baldwinsville. The Wildcats won two sprint medley relays. Zack and Jake Lafaver helped to post a time of 3:52.6, exactly three seconds better than runner-up Cicero-North Syracuse, in the longer event as, in the 1,000-meter version, WG (2:07.1) topped CNS (2:08.4) once more. WG also was second in the 4×1,600 relay as Sam Reedy, Martin Leff, John DeLallo and Steve Houghmaster posted a time of 18:50 flat. Liverpool’s quartet of Colin Savage, Zavon Watkins, Alex Wilke and Chris Clemons won in 18:16.5. Elsewhere, the Wildcats were third in the 3,000 steeplechase, fourth in the 110 high hurdles and fifth in both the 4×200 and 400 hurdles. Back at the Jordan-Elbridge meet, the West Genesee girls team had two wins, including the 3,000-meter run, where eighth-grader Laura Leff sped to a time of 10:38.56, crushing a field where no one else broke the 11-minute mark. Katie Bott was victorious in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.66, and was second in the 200-meter dash (27.22 seconds) while Kelly Powell (5:13.41) and Abby Kastick (5:21.26) were second and third, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run.
