Again, the Chittenango boys lacrosse team inched close to a hard-earned win, only to have the dream snatched away. This came during last Tuesday night’s game at Whitesboro, where the issue was in doubt all the way to the end before the Bears lost to the Warriors 6-4. In cool and windy conditions, Chittenango shrugged off an early 2-0 deficit and played quite well in the second quarter, moving back until it had tied it, 3-3, at halftime. Just as quickly, though, the Bears slumped again, unable to score in the third period. That gave Whitesboro time to move back in front, where it stayed as it held Chittenango to a single goal the rest of the way. All game long, Chittenango’s defense kept the team close. Steve Cerisoli, Mike Foster, Dylan Furco, Kyle Schiedo and Jason Cerisoli banded together and frustrated Whitesboro’s attack, and Ryan Schiedo backed them up with 15 saves. Four different players — Furco, Ben Myers, Jordan Barber and Craig Martin — earned the Bears’ goals, with Myers adding an assist. Joey Schoen led Whitesboro with a goal and two assists, as no player on either team was able to score twice.
