William J. Young

William J. Young, 72, of Minoa, died on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from SUNY-Oswego and Syracuse University.
Mr. Young was a technology teacher with the Chittenango Central Schools for 32 years. He was a member of MTAA for Technology Teachers for Madison County and was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award. He was a member of the ESM Marching Band Boosters for 11 years. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as an assistant and scout leader of Troop 97. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was an avid supporter and member of the William Hillcourt Scout Museum at Woodland.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Peg) Froio; son, Daniel (partner Monica) of Minoa; daughters, Dianne (James) LaPlaine of Leesburg, VA and Denise (Michael) Banks of Ballincollig, Ireland; 8 grandchildren, Allison, Morgan, Molly, Ruairi, Brieann, Kailee, Krista and Olivia.
