Edford N. Hurd, 79, of Liverpool, went into the presence of his lord and savior Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, peacefully at home. Inspired by his father he was an avid inventor and designer draftsman, encouraging his brothers and others to pursue their dreams. His desire was to impact the automotive industry in a positive way through Hurd Kinematic Lab. He served two years in the U.S. Coast Guard stateside.
Predeceased by his parents, Fraser & Mildred, and his two brothers, Regen’ol and Robert Hurd.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley; children, Redelle (Michael) Anna of Rochester, NY; Walter (Dianne) Hurd of Leesport, PA; Dawn (Thomas) Spiegelberg of Bothell, WA; and Mark (Christy) Hurd of Fort Plain, NY; fifteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter; brother Clarence (Sharon) Hurd of Largo, FL; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of close friends.
Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. A Celebration of Life service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at North Syracuse Baptist Church, 420 S. Main St., N. Syracuse. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the N. Syracuse Baptist Church Deacons Fund. A private burial will be in Liverpool Cemetery.
