Maurice M. Holland, 82 of Liverpool passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at home. He was born on Aug. 29, 1931, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., a son of the late James and Margaret (McNamee) Holland. Much of his childhood was spent in the Oneida, area, graduating from Oneida High School in 1950. He furthered his education attending Wharton School of Finance in Boston before joining the US Navy . After serving his country, Maurice moved to the Syracuse area where he married Barbara (Wheat) Holland in May of 1959. Mr. Holland was employed by Marine Midland Bank for 14 years. He then joined the New York State Banking Department in 1970 and retired as Senior Bank Examiner after 26 years of service. Maurice possessed a hard work ethic providing for his family. Even in his senior years, he still kept an eye on the financial market, watching the World News and keeping up on current financial events. He also enjoyed singing and playing the organ. Maurice loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren, and shared a special bond with his dogs. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara J. Holland in June of this year, two sisters and three brothers.
Surviving to cherish his memory are two daughters, Patricia Anne (Steven) Wolf of Liverpool, Kathleen Anne Kurtz of Allen TX , four grandchildren; Meghan, Daniel (Jill), Holland, and Reilly, and a brother, Edmond C. (Dorothy) Holland of Cullman, AL.
Calling hour: 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, with a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool. The Rite of Committal and burial follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles. Contribution can be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St. Liverpool, NY 13088.
