Terry L. Shaffer, 66, of Marcellus, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Crouse Hospital. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, he lived in Pennellville and was a graduate of Phoenix High School. He resided in the Syracuse area most of his life. An Army veteran, Terry was employed by Buckeye Pipeline Co. in Auburn for 25 years and was formerly employed by Edward Joy Electric Co. He was a member of Warners United Methodist Church. An avid gardener, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with wood, being a handyman and made a great bonfire. His greatest joy was his two boys, A & O.
Terry was predeceased by his sister, Mary Jane Colbert, in 2009.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Jean Belcher; daughter, Jolene (Ryan) Roosekrans of Marcellus; son, Heath Shaffer of Marcellus; grandsons, Arend and Oliver; sisters, Carol (Charles) Lindsay of Lizton, IN, Bonnie (William) Broden of Albany and Patricia Moran of Lorton, VA; brothers, Gary (Gloria) of North Syracuse, Rodney (Barbara) of Dutton, MT and David (Marie) of Brewerton; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in the Warners United Methodist Church, 6514 Canton St., Warners with The Rev. Michaela St. Marie officiating. Terry was laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ECHO Meals on Wheels Inc., 4600 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13219 or to VNA Foundation of CNY, 1050 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
