James J. McCarthy, 80, of Lakewood, NJ, died Oct. 10, 2013, at Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Lakewood. Born and raised in Montclair, NJ, James lived in Verona and Spring Lake Hts., NJ and in Naples, FL. He was an auditor for the CFTC and later State of New Jersey until his retirement. James proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine’s Church, Spring Lake, NJ. He loved the beach, the Yankees and the Giants. His biggest love was spending time with his six grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Mary Hurley and her husband, William of Manahawkin and James McCarthy III and his wife, Jennifer of Eatontown, NJ; six grandchildren, Kayla, Breanna, Nicholas, Vincent Hurley, Julia and James McCarthy IV; he also leaves a sister, Margaret McCarthy of Fayetteville; niece, Michelle McCarthy-Mello and her partner, Lee Mello; and former wife, Kathleen McCarthy.
