Glenn L. Waterman, 93 of Cicero and winter resident of Naples, FL passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Sunnyside Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse and raised and educated in Oswego. Glenn has been a resident of Cicero for over 50 years. Mr. Waterman was a proud WWII U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre of operations. He was employed as a sales representative for Armour and Company for 23 years. He then continued working as owner and operator of Waterman Trucking traveling the east coast. After his retirement, Glenn returned to work for the NYS Canal Lock E23 in Brewerton as a toll collector. He enjoyed sharing with boaters local history and hearing stories from everyone who traveled through the lock. His memberships included Tri- Valley Lodge # 148 F& AM, past commander of the American Legion Syracuse Post No. 1277, past president of both the Republication Association and the Pastime Athletic Club and the All American Banjo Band. He is predeceased by his grandson, Scott Graf, two brothers; Leonard and Howard and two son-in-laws; Harry Rothenhoefer and William Teeter.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 73 years, Dorothy “Dottie” (Stearns) Waterman of Cicero, son, Glenn L. (Rosemary) Waterman II of Naples, FL, three daughters; Carolyn J. Rothenhoefer, Gwendolyn V. (Walter) Graf both of Cicero, Dorothea M. Teeter of Bridgeport, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great great-granddaughters. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, from at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville. Masonic service: 4:30 p.m. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Garden, DeWitt.
