June Mumford Cook, 81, of Lakeland, passed away Friday Sept. 27, 2013, at The Centers at St. Camillus. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she lived in Camillus since 1973. June was a 1950 graduate of Syracuse Central and retired in 1998 after 25 years with AT&T as an operator. A member of the Aletheian Society and Telephone Pioneers, she was also a volunteer nurse’s aide and enjoyed genealogy.
June was predeceased by her son, Timothy, in 2005; and brother, Thomas R. Mumford, in 2013.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Donald H. Cook; son, David S. (Amy) Cook of Salina; daughters, Kathleen A. (Thomas) Chappini of Chittenango and Christine A. Archung of Camillus; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home with Pastor Candace Lawrence officiating. June was laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
