William Richard Lewis, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born in Rossiter, PA, and has lived in the Syracuse area most of his life. Mr. Lewis was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. William retired in 1989 after 46 years of employment with Oberdorfer Foundries in East Syracuse. He was a former Little League coach, former Cub Scout Master and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow and held both the Scouters Award and Scouters Key. He is predeceased by a son, Richard, sister, Bernice, and brother, Henry.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years; Dorothy T. (Thomson) Lewis of Liverpool, two sons; Donald (Martha) Lewis, Sherman (Victoria) Lewis both of North Syracuse, five grandchildren; Christopher, Kelly, Derek, Miles, Alexandra, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Maurer Funeral Home Inc., 300 Second St., Liverpool, with funeral services following at noon. Private burial will take place in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
