Mary Jane Cassano

Mary Jane "Tootie" Cassano, 84, of North Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at her home. Born in Syracuse, to the late Howard and Catherine Rose, she was a graduate of North High School. On Aug. 21, 1948, she married her childhood sweetheart, Frank A. Cassano.
Mary Jane retired in 1991 as secretary from the North Syracuse Central School District. She was a communicant Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Cicero.
For 20 years, Mary Jane delivered meals for North Area Meals on Wheels. She sang bass with the Sound of Silver Sweet Adeline Chorus and in the Notes 2U Quartet.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Frank, are her children, Sandee (Mark) Brown of Cape Coral, Florida and Thomas (Judy) Cassano of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Gretchen Krohn and Ted Krohn II; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph Swieck, Michael Cassano, Marie Segreti, John Cassano and Peter Cassano and many nieces and nephews.
Services: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14t, at Fergerson Funeral Home with a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero. Calling hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 215 South Main St., North Syracuse. Entombment will be private.
