Emile Guindy, 62, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at University Hospital. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he moved to the U.S. in 1978 and lived in Syracuse since 1986.
Emile owned Car Depot in Syracuse for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Emile was predeceased by his parents, Shanouda and Agia Guindy.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, the former Janet Totari; daughter, Christy Guindy and son, Michael (Nawga) Guindy, both of Syracuse; sisters, Amal (Fouad) Mankarous of Houston, TX, and Faiza Guindy and Nadia (Fathy) Labib, both of Egypt; brothers, Samy (Aida) Guindy of Camillus and Nabil Guindy of Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called Wednesday, November 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, 411 Oswego St., Syracuse with Father Demetrius Mansour officiating. Emile was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
