Harry Stewart Bell, 88 of Clay passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 13, 2013, at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse and has been a resident of Clay since 1959. Mr. Bell was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the European and Pacific Theatre of Operations with the 86th infantry Division. Harry was employed by New Process Gear for over 35 years retiring in the early 1980s. He had a love for the outdoors, enjoying boating and fishing, but especially his favorite hobby of metal detecting. Harry also looked forward to Spring, waiting for the return of his beloved Wood Ducks. He treasured time spent, along with his wife at their winter residence in South Padre Island, Texas. He is predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Doris E. (Muhl) Bell of Clay; two sons, Harry C. Bell of Syracuse and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Bell of Brewerton; four daughters, Janice McCarthy of Portland, ME, Marlene Cleary of Cicero, Susan (Steven) Chapin and Cindy Bell all of Baldwinsville; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Kathleen McCarthy, Sean Cleary, Courtney and Justin Chapin, Alexi Foor, Kayleigh, Alicia and Alexandra Bell; also surviving are many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services: at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Sacred Heart Church, 8229 South Main St., Cicero with a mass of Christian burial celebrated and a rite of committal and burial to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum.
