Concetta “Connie” (DeGelorm) Mazzye, age 81, died peacefully on Saturday May 4, 2013 at home with her family by her side after her long battle with cancer. Connie was born on June 1, 1931, in Syracuse, the daughter of Nicholas DeGelorm, Sr., and Mary Granteed.
Connie enjoyed and loved being with her family. She liked to read, shop, bowl and travel. Connie was always the first to help any of her children.
In 1950, Connie married the love of her life Francis P. Mazzye Sr., and resided in Mattydale before moving to Liverpool. Connie and Frank established their own family business, Mazzye’s Meats, in Liverpool, where Connie worked for the last 35 years. Prior to establishing Mazzye’s meats, Connie worked as a cafeteria worker at Roxboro Road and then Williams Supermarket as a deli clerk.
Connie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville.
Connie is survived by her husband, Francis Mazzye Sr. and her five children; Lynn (Gregory) Root, Kathleen (Michael) Root, Francis (Eileen Adams) Mazzye Jr., David (Terri Uhlig) Mazzye, Mark (Kathleen Linnertz) Mazzye; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Marie (DeGelorm) Damiano; an aunt, Lucille Granteed and a number of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville. Mass of Christian burial: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday May 8, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Baldwinsville. Rite of Committal and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to National Brain Tumor Association or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 3494 NYS Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
