Katherine F. Loope, 85, of Manlius, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. A lifelong resident of Manlius, Katherine was the last remaining of four girls born in Syracuse to John A. Farnsworth and Lucille Beebe. After growing up on Pompey Center Road and graduating from the Manlius school district, Katherine attended Oswego State Teachers College, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education going on to receive her master’s degree at Syracuse University. She started her career in West Eaton and Morrisville, and then spent 25 years teaching kindergarten in the F-M school district.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and also freezing and canning her husband’s home grown vegetables. Upon retirement, Katherine taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Manlius. She enjoyed her grandsons Adam and Tom and visiting her sisters.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Keith) Miller of Manlius; her son Jeffrey Loope of Manlius; and two grandsons, Adam and Thomas (Jennifer) Miller. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Loope in 2011.
