Somvang Phommaniraj, 62, of Marguerite Avenue in Syracuse, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Somvang was born in Laos and resided in Syracuse for the past 32 years. She worked as a housekeeper at James Square Nursing Home for 10 years during 1989-1999. Somvang enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was very family-oriented and loved cooking and spending time with her family. She was a great wife and mother.
Somvang was predeceased by her parents, Van and Loun Saengvongkham; by four siblings, and by two sons.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, KongPasit Phommaniraj; their three children: Souphinthong "Sue" (Doua Lee) Phommaniraj-Lee of Syracuse; Bounsompong (Julie Ann Cardenas) Phommaniraj of Syracuse, Lamthong (Borom Long) Phommaniraj of Sterling Heights, MI; a brother in Laos; and her eight grandchildren: Matthew, Marissa, Ayden, Leilani, Lana, Vivica, Vanessa, and Devin.
