Selden E. Tubbs

Selden E. Tubbs, 93, of Manlius, died Saturday, June 23, 2013, at Crouse Hospital. Mr. Tubbs had lived in Fayetteville for 55 years before moving to Manlius in 1995. Born in Manlius, he was a graduate of Manlius High School, the Powelson Institute and the Simmons School of Mortuary Science. He was the former owner of Eaton-Tubbs Funeral Home in Fayetteville, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Tubbs was a member of the United Church of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Central City Lodge No. 0305 F&AM, the Archie Van Patten Post 141 of the American Legion, a life member of N.Y. State Funeral Directors Association and the National CIC Association..
During WWII, he served in the military as a special agent in the Counter-Intelligence Corps.
He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Eaton Tubbs in 1992; sister, Gladys Bligh in 2006 and nephew Terrence Bligh in 1974.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan E. Blakeslee of Evansville, IN; one son, John E. Tubbs of Fayetteville; one granddaughter, Christy Blakeslee of Evansville; one grandson, Lincoln Tubbs of Liverpool; and two nephews, Jack and Donald Bligh both of Manlius.
Services: 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Burial will be in Fayetteville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
