Carol Gualtieri (Myers), of Liverpool, died on June 23, 2013, at Menorah Park after a long illness. She was born in Syracuse and worked for Marine Midland Bank and then retired from the town of Salina Water Department after 15 years. Her family hailed from Beacon Hill, Mass., where her father was an editor for the Herald. Carol enjoyed gardening, cooking, bowling, golf, ladies bridge games and traveling to sporting events.
She was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Bills, and Syracuse Orangemen. She was a communicant of both Immaculate Heart of Mary and Holy Trinity Church where she was a greeter at mass. Carol taught religious education and was a Columbiette with the Knights of Columbus.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter and survived by her five children, Linda (Gualtieri) and Jack Halkowich of Dearfield Beach Fl.and grandchildren Oliver of Houston Tx. and Phoebe of Manhattan, Nancy Jeanne Elizabeth Gualtieri of Liverpool, Daniel and Marguerite Gualtieri and three grandsons, Andrew, Timothy and Noah of Amaganasett, Deborah (Gualtieri) Bullock and granddaughter Madelene of Clifton Park, and Mark Gualtieri of Boca Raton, FL. Carol is also survived by her beloved brother Donald and cherished sister in-law Christine Myers of Syracuse, brother and sister in-law Edward and Lola Gualtieri of Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 425 Beechwood Ave. Liverpool. Calling hours: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St. Liverpool, NY. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Contributions can be to the Alzheimer's Association.
