Paul J. Molini Sr., 84, of Liverpool, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Crouse Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Paul was born in St. Louis, MO. He attended St. Benedict’s College in Kansas where he had received an athletic scholarship to play football. He was also elected class president his senior year. Paul was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was assigned in 1951 to Syracuse University to learn the Russian language. It was during this time he met Shirley. Paul was a contract administrator in the heavy military division at General Electric for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Radisson Greens golf course. He also was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club in Syracuse, where he enjoyed playing cards and working out, the Knights of Columbus, and was a lector and active parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren’s various sporting events, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. He is predeceased by his parents, Otto and Carmela Molini; sister, Johanne Kelly; and a brother, John Molini.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (Greco); his children, Carol (Stephen) Velsko of Livermore, CA; Mary (Molini) Kullman of Cicero; Paul Jr. (Carol) Molini of Wichita Falls, TX; Judith (John) Meluni of Liverpool; Richard (Rose) Molini of Baldwinsville; sisters, Carmela Molini D.O.C. of St Louis, MO; Margaret (Dr. Paul) Petruska of St. Louis, MO; his beloved grandchildren, Irina, Anna, Kristina, Kira, Evan, Owen, Katie, William, Alexandra; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services: 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Maurer Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the funeral home, 300 Second St. Liverpool.
