Raymond Kenneth Armstrong, 92, of New Port Richey, Fla, formerly of Camillus, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013. Born in Auburn on October 16, 1920, he lived most of his life in Syracuse. During World War II, Ray served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy transporting soldiers and supplies to the Pacific. His career was spent at Carrier Air Corporation in the Human Resource Department. He was an avid golfer, bridge player and traveler. He and his wife spent many happy times at the Skaneateles Country Club.
Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 65 years, Mary Seamans Armstrong, on September 19, 2009; and brothers, William, Donald and Carl.
Ray leaves behind nine nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, in St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Peter Worn officiating. Ray was laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
