Paul B. Conan, 84, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 30. 2013. Paul was born in Syracuse and attended Most Holy Rosary School. He was in LeMoyne College’s first graduating class of 1951 where he majored in economics and minored in philosophy. Paul also played on the varsity golf team while at LeMoyne. He went on to receive a master’s degree in business administration from Syracuse University, majoring in banking and finance with a concentration in real estate. Paul worked at Manufacturers Trust Company in New York Cityfrom 1953 to 1958, and later joined Pomeroy Organization in Syracuse in 1959 where he handled all facets of residential real estate. In 1969, Paul started Conan Real Estate Co. Inc. and was president of the company for 44 years. He was elected president of Greater Syracuse Board of Realtors in 1981 and 1982 and was an active member of the National Association of Realtors and New York State Association of Realtors. Paul was a long -time member of Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse.
Paul was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Robert J. Conan, Jr. In 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sally Grant Conan; two sons-Paul Conan Jr. (Laurie) of Walden, N.Y., and James Conan of Syracuse; daughter Anne-Marie Gorman (Brian) of Dover, NH, and six grandchildren: Patrick, Kelly, Riley, Megan, Brian and Michael.
Mass of Christian burial: noon Monday, June 3, in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, NY 13219, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY 13209.
