Warren G. Kessler

Warren G. Kessler, 85, of Mattydale, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Syracuse, Warren grew up on the west end of town where he attended Christian Brothers Academy. He resided in Mattydale for the past 48 years.
Warren was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the WWII era. He worked as a butcher in the 1960s for Swift Meats. Since then, Warren worked in appliance repair for Morris Distributors and as a property manager for Kelly & Dutch Real Estate. He also worked as a custodian of the voting machines for the Onondaga County Board of Elections. Warren was the past commander of the American Legion Post No. 1832 in Mattydale, serving as a member of their Color Guard and as their chaplain. He was also the chaplain for Onondaga County American Legion. Warren was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church and served as an usher for many years.
He was predeceased by his son, Warren William Kessler, in 1971.
Warren is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet; three children: Michael (Cathy) Kessler of Camillus, Cynthia Fairbank of Syracuse, and Susan (John) Hrynyk of Liverpool; two sisters-in-law: Ann (Steve) Ferro and Theresa Leahy, all of Syracuse; his 10 grandchildren including Christine M. Abbatiello, and 10 great grandchildren.

Calling hours: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, N.Y. Prayer services: 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
