Leona E. Hardy

Leona E. Hardy, 94, of Amboy, died Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she was a 1937 graduate of Solvay High School and a graduate of Syracuse University Business School. She worked 40 years in the stock market at D.B. Bonbright and E.F Hutton. She was an elder for more than 66 years and lifelong member of Amboy Belle Isle Church, where her family has attended for over 100 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, James O. Hardy, in 2004, her parents, Grace and Leon Filkins, her sister Daisy Pinckney and grandson Lee Hardy.
Survived by a daughter Linda (Joseph) Zogby of Rhode Island; a son David Hardy of Amboy; a brother Charles (Avis) Filkins of Huntingdon, PA; five grandchildren, Kara (Damon) Comp, Paula (Richard) Sharkey, Laura (Paul) Dexter, Nicholas (Kate) Hardy, and Denise Hardy; six great-grandchildren, Aaron and Lyla Sharkey, Jaden and Juliana Dexter, Kyla and Kelsea Comp; several nieces and nephews.
Her love for life revolved around her husband Jim, church, family, travel, the Navy Bisbee Family and precious summers at Skaneateles Lake. Her advice to us all was “Go with the flow.”
Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at Amboy Belle Isle United Church service to follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Belle Isle Cemetery. Arrangements by B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Camillus.
