David John Matt, 67, of Conway, S.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his wife, daughters and family.
David lived all his life in Syracuse and was enjoying his retirement in Conway, SC. After attending Murray State College in Kentucky, David worked as a biology teacher for nine years before having a long career at UPS. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, bird watcher and was an award-winning wildlife photographer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Anita Matt.
David is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy Klein-Matt; six daughters, Jennifer, Jessica, Stephanie, Paula, Gretchen, and Rebecca; one sister, Toni Hansen and husband Ted; and a granddaughter, Rhiannon.
Services: 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Fergerson Funeral Home with mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
