Patrick King, 65, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly on Dec. 31, 2012. He was born on May 18, 1947, in Tucson, Ariz. He attended Cathedral and West Genesee Schools in Syracuse and later earned a High School diploma. He worked at Crouse-Hinds and volunteered at Unity Kitchen. He moved to Sacramento, CA in 1980 and earned Journeyman status as carpenter. He returned to Syracuse in 1990 and helped his mother take care of his ailing father. He was a member of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters Local 277 and worked as a bookkeeper for Eastern Contractors, Inc. He was an active pro-life proponent, an avid outdoorsman, billiards aficionado, recreational sailor, and guitar player. He had a life-long affinity for learning.
He was predeceased by his father, John, mother, Veronica, and sister, Hannah.
He is survived by his brothers; John (Diane), Michael (Sandy), Peter (Ann), Timothy (Lori), Brian (Tina) and sisters; Mary, Janet (Marty) and Kitty (Mike); aunts Hannah and Marie, numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins in both Illinois and New York.
Calling hours: from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Syracuse, NY 13209. Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, NY 13209. Burial: Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Warner’s, immediately following the mass.
