Robert Van Nostrand, Jr.

Robert "Grumpy" Van Nostrand, Jr., 58, of Liverpool, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Elmira, Robert moved to Liverpool in 1963 where he resided until his passing and graduated from Liverpool High in 1972.
He was the son of the late Robert E. and the late Shirley J. (Lyon) Van Nostrand, Sr.
Robert was a U.S. Naval veteran serving aboard the USS Raleigh. He worked for the past 15 years as a software engineer and nuclear test director for ILRT, Inc. Robert enjoyed bowling, playing softball and building and flying R.C. airplanes. He loved to work on home improvement projects and his biggest joy was time spent with his grandchildren and family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Judith (Steinbrecher); their seven children: Sandra VanNostrand of Baldwinsville, Shelly (Christopher) Hunter of North Syracuse, Robert (Jillene) of Boise, ID, Richard (Jennifer) of Bloomsburg, PA, William (Amanda), Kevin, and Tony all of Liverpool; a sister: Mary Rose (Ken) Birch of Sacramento, CA; three brothers: Fred (Gloria) Van Nostrand of Concord, CA, Curtis V. Van Nostrand, and James E. (Cynthia) Van Nostrand of Martinez, CA; and 15 grandchildren.
