The Rev. Barbara H. Teeter

The Rev. Barbara H. Teeter, 87, passed away Feb. 23, 2013 in Rochester, NY. Former resident of Skaneateles, she was an Episcopal priest and wife of the Rev. John H. Teeter, also an Episcopal priest and former Rector of St. James Epsicopal Church.
In her ministerial career she served as a canon at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Syracuse and as a chaplain to hospitals there. She also served several years at the Onondaga reservation near Syracuse. She was a graduate of Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and Northwestern University.
In 1941 she appeared for several weeks on the Quiz Kids, a national radio show. She was an English teacher for several years at Jordan Elbridge in the late 1960s.
She was the daughter of Paul Hutchinson, editor of "The Christian Century" magazine, and Agnes Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband; by three sons: Philip of Berne, N.Y., Mark of Moscow, Russia, and Timothy of Savannah, GA, and two daughters, Sara Tinkelman of Brighton and Paula Gitlin of Fairport; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial service: noon, Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2000 Highland Ave. Rochester. Reception follows the noon service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Burial will be in French Azilum, Towanda, PA. Contributions may be made to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund or to Heifer International.
