Gene C. Hunter, of Minoa, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the age of 66. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Eastwood High School and served in the U.S. Army following graduation.
As a lifelong salesman, he truly enjoyed relationships he forged with customers that really became friends over the years. He was a devoted Catholic at St. Mary’s Church in Minoa and dedicated numerous years as the village’s Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 99.
Gene was actively involved in coaching his son’s and grandchildren’s athletic teams, had a particular love for the game of lacrosse and unselfishly provided time helping or mentoring others. Gene has and still will touch the lives of many over the years. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Gene Hunter, Jr., of Baldwinsville, and David Hunter of Virginia Beach, VA; his daughter-in-laws, Theresa Hunter and Marie Hunter; and his four beloved grandchildren and proudest joys, Justin, Sara, Isla and Micah Hunter. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Rita, in 2005.
