John M. Dranchek

John M. Dranchek, 89, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home. He was born in Southview, PA, and has resided in Liverpool since 1978. Mr. Dranchek was a master sergeant in the Army Air Force during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre of operations receiving the Bronze Star Medal. He attended Kutztown State University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education and continued his education attending Dickinson School of Law. John was employed by Nationwide Insurance for 36 years retiring in 1985 as a claims manager. He received a special recognition award for his volunteer service to WCNY in 1998. He was a member of the VFW Liverpool Post No. 951 and the Catholic War Veteran Post No. 1738. He is predeceased by his wife Mary in 2012 a sister Sophie and brother Alex.
Surviving are his children; Carol Surniak, Ken, Mark, Christopher (Judith) and Janine(Stanley) Hodge, grandchildren; Steve, Anne, Wyatt, Rachel, and Sam, two great-grandchildren, Cole and Owen. 2 sisters, Stella and Helen and a brother Louis.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel , 8668 Oswego Road, Baldwinsville. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
