Paul H. Hafner Sr.

Paul H. Hafner Sr., died peacefully at home Friday night, Jan. 25, 2013, with family at his side, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was a native of North Syracuse and moved to Baldwinsville in 1948, where he and his brother Fred farmed together for many years. In later years, he and his son Paul Jr. farmed together on a portion of the family farm, where father worked with son, and where he especially enjoyed and spent thousands of hours operating the bulldozer.
He was pre-deceased by his daughter Rebecca in October 2012. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise; daughter Barbara Farley (Dennis) of Reading, MA, Paul Hafner Jr. (Sally) of Baldwinsville; son Robert Hafner (Linda Soldatos) of San Francisco, CA; and daughter Carol Jane Andrews (Steve) of Watertown, NY; brother Fred Hafner of Baldwinsville; four grandchildren, Ryan Guerdon and Jason Guerdon of Baldwinsville, Michael Hafner of Chattanooga, TN and Jennie (Jamie) DeLong of Ooltewah, TN, and great-grandson Ethan Guerdon of Baldwinsville.
Calling hours: 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Gates Funeral Home, Inc., 29 W. Genesee St., Baldwinsville. Memorial service: 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Westvale Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2511 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
Throughout his life, Paul was active in his church, especially in the area of religious liberty. The Hafner family is especially grateful for the services provided by Hospice of Central New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Westvale Seventh-day Adventist Church (for religious liberty or Parkview Junior Academy), or to the Hospice of Central New York.
