Clarice H. “Carrie” Tobey, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away at home Jan. 25, 2013, after a brief illness. Born in Chicago to J. Sidney and Doll Crane, Carrie spent her high school years in Mount Vernon, N.Y., graduating from A.B. Davis High School. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, before transferring to Syracuse University, where she graduated.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jim, in 2009. Together they had homes in Syracuse and Camillus, before moving to Fayetteville in 1981. Carrie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Syracuse where she served as choir mother and then DeWitt Community Church.
Her family and friends will remember Carrie’s engaging character, quick wit, generosity and loyalty. Carrie truly touched all who knew her.
Carrie is survived by a daughter, Barbara Tobey of Charlottesville, VA; a son, Jim (Cindy) Tobey of Cazenovia; two granddaughters, Rae and Glenn Tobey of Cazenovia; and a brother, Gordon Crane of Atlanta, Georgia.
