Mark J. Fitzsimmons, 84, of Phoenix, N.Y., passed away after a lengthy illness, Dec. 25, 2013. He was born in Malone, NY, son of the late Frank and Mary (McGillic) Fitzsimmons. A graduate of Franklin Academy and Clarkson College in electrical engineering, he served in the Korean War, Army Signal Corp. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 34 years. He was a councilman for the town of Schroeppel, a member of the Elks Club and American Legion and a parishioner of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cecilia Baker, four sons, Mark B. (Kathleen), Scott (Deborah), James (Sheila), Stephen, 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Mass of Christian burial: 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix. Burial will be in our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Route 57, Clay. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Gates Funeral Home, 29 West Genesee St., Baldwinsville.
