Phyllis M. Otis, 89, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Loretto. Born in Ashton, SD, she lived most of her life in the Syracuse area and retired from Americanization League in Syracuse after many years.
Phyllis was a 50-year communicant of St. Vincent DePaul Church and attended St. Joseph's Church since living in Camillus. Her favorite hobby in life was taking care of her family.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, John Otis Sr.; son, John Otis Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Susan Otis.
Surviving are her daughters, Patricia (John) Morgan of Sauquoit, Diane (Terry) Clancy of North Syracuse, and Kathy (Mark) Vinciguerra of Clifton Park; sons, James (Paula) Otis of Silver Lake, OH, Thomas (Mary) Otis of Camillus, Robert (Lynda) Otis of East Syracuse, and Frank Otis of Camillus; sister, Elva June Murray of Jamestown, ND; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 20 at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral mass followed at 12:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. David James officiating. Phyllis was laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
