Gertrude “Gert” Pfeiffer Warriner, 92, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Van Duyn Rehabilitation & Nursing. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse-Camillus area, she was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary School.
Gert was formerly employed for many years by Pfeiffer's Drive Inn and Witherill's Department Store. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed golf, sewing and quilting. She was also an excellent cook, baker and housekeeper.
Gert’s husband of 63 years, William H. Warriner, passed away January 30, 2004.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Lou (Jim) Koes of Onondaga Hill; son, William P. (Joyce) Warriner of Liverpool; grandchildren, Amy (David) Furletti, Kristen (Michael) Sergott, Jessica Koes and Kevin Koes; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Furletti, Parker and Tate Sergott
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Van Duyn staff on 4D for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.
Relatives and friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services followed at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home and noon in Holy Family Church where Rev. Msgr. Francis Osei-Nyarko celebrated a funeral Mass. Gert was laid to rest at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Van Duyn Nursing Fund, c/o Van Duyn Rehabilitation and Nursing, 5075 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215.
