Edward W. Sobotka, Jr., 80, of Baldwinsville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at St. Josephs Hospital after a lengthy illness. Eddie was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Syracuse to Edward W. Sobotka, Sr. and Sophie Kulas Sobotka. Eddie served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1955-56 and was retired from the engineering department of Crouse-Hinds where he worked for 44 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s church. He enjoyed fishing and summering at Groman Shores, Sandy Pond.
His wife the former Mary Patricia Hart survives along with two daughters,Mary Beth (Randy) Loveless and Patricia Ann Sobotka-Wright; a brother, John (Janet) Sobotka; a sister, Joyce (Walt) Malloy; a brother-in-law, Jack “John” Smith; grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy and Allison Wright and Emily Loveless; two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Elliot Wright; two sisters-in-law, Jean Fitzgibbons and Marlene Raab as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Smith.
Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P.O.
